Smiling children could be seen all around Howard L. Goff Middle School on Saturday – in between bites at the Pancake Breakfast, jumping up and down on bounce houses in the gym, and behind colorful face paint – as they enjoyed Winterfest with their families.
The event was so well attended that the Pancake Breakfast was extended past its end time due to steady crowds.
The shows and demonstrations captivated audiences including Birds of Prey, Mad Science, martial arts and drones. Craft tables and vendors lined the hallways. Students made balloon animals and helped younger kids on and off bounce houses.
The return of Winterfest was a huge success after a two-year break due to the pandemic.
“After two years of not being able to have Winterfest due to the pandemic, it was so uplifting to see the large turnout at Winterfest and the enjoyment of students and families throughout the day,” said Superintendent Jeff Simons. “I wish to thank all of the volunteers who planned the event including the East Greenbush Education Foundation board, PTO leaders and parent volunteers, Transportation Department employees and district administrators and staff.”
