In collaboration with law enforcement, an investigation determined that the threat was not credible. However, out of an abundance of caution, our schools will remain in a Secured Lockout for the rest of the school day. We will also have an increased police presence at all schools.

This letter has been sent from Superintendent Jeff Simons to all staff and parents/guardians about today’s incident.

9:03 a.m.

Police have arrived at DPS so those buses are now bringing students to school. Parents/guardians may also drop off their students at DPS.

Out of an abundance of caution, police officers will remain at all East Greenbush CSD schools for the rest of the day.

All East Greenbush CSD schools remain in Secured Lockout until further notice.

Police have arrived at Bell Top, Genet, Green Meadow and Red Mill so those buses are now bringing students to school. Parents/guardians at those schools may drop off their students as well.

DPS campus is still closed.

Out of an abundance of caution, all school buses with students on board are being redirected to their confidential staging locations away from school grounds while law enforcement is sent to schools. Once law enforcement arrives at each school, the buses will transport students to those schools.

Parents/guardians who drop off students should stay off school grounds until they are notified that that school has law enforcement there.

The East Greenbush Central School District initiated a district-wide Secured Lockout at approximately 8:05 a.m. on Monday morning in response to an unspecified threat left on a voicemail at Howard L. Goff Middle School overnight, which was retrieved this morning.

A Secured Lockout is used to secure school buildings and grounds.

  • All students and staff are permitted to enter school and the school day continues as normal.
  • No outdoor activities including Physical Education and Recess.
  • No unnecessary visitors may enter school.

District administrators are working with School Resource Officers and local law enforcement to investigate the situation.

All schools will have an increased police presence throughout the day.

More information will be provided to staff and parents/guardians as it becomes available.
