School Budget Vote and Board Election - May 21

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a school budget for 2024-25 that maintains all programs and services with a 0.55% tax levy increase, which is within the NYS Property Tax Cap. Residents will also vote on a $116 million capital project that would improve school facilities and grounds across the district with no impact to local taxpayers, the replacement of eight school buses, which if approved by voters, will be fully paid for by the Bus Purchase Reserve Fund, and elect three individuals to the Board of Education.

The East Greenbush Central School District has ended its Secured Lockout at all schools. In consultation with law enforcement, we believe it is now safe to permit outdoor activities during the school day including physical education and recess.

All schools will continue enhanced visitor protocols, limiting visitors from entering schools. Parents/guardians may continue to pick up or drop off students at the security vestibule.

Schools will continue to have an increased police presence throughout the school day and at after school events.

We appreciate your understanding the past few days.

Out of an abundance of caution, East Greenbush CSD will start each day under a Secured Lockout until further notice. This means we will have regular school days but with the additional safety protocols remaining in place. More information.

Local, state and federal law enforcement are investigating these threats against our schools. Out of an abundance of caution, and in consultation with law enforcement, the East Greenbush CSD will remain in a Secured Lockout until further notice.

During a Secured Lockout, the school day continues as normal with no outdoor activities and an enhanced visitor protocol. Students will have regular instruction and can move within the building as normal.

The East Greenbush Central School District has initiated a district-wide Secured Lockout on Tuesday morning in response to another phone call threat at Howard L. Goff Middle School. In coordination with law enforcement, this is believed to be a non-credible threat. However, out of an abundance of caution, all East Greenbush CSD schools have entered a “Secured Lockout” and will have an increased police presence.

A Secured Lockout is used to secure school buildings and grounds.

  • All students and staff are permitted to enter school and the school day continues as normal.
  • No outdoor activities including Physical Education and Recess.
  • No unnecessary visitors may enter school.

All schools will have an increased police presence throughout the day.

More information will be provided to staff and parents/guardians as it becomes available.
