Columbia’s Freshmen Class hosted a “Parents’ Night Out” on Saturday evening where Columbia students watched elementary aged kids at the school, while the parents were able to have a kid-free night and do some holiday shopping.

The event was open to all children in grades Pre-K to 5. The children were able to choose from playing games in the gym, doing arts and crafts projects, playing board games, or participating in science experiments put on by Columbia’s Science Honor Society. In addition, the kids all ate pizza for dinner, and ended the night in the auditorium watching the movie Spy Kids.

There was a total of 100 children in attendance, with 50 Columbia High School student volunteers.

“The kids all seemed to have a great time, and appeared to be excited to participate in the different activities that were offered,” said Class of 2027 Advisor Scott Monuteaux. “Moreover, the parents were very appreciative for the opportunity to have a kid-free night. The Columbia student volunteers should also be complimented, as they were a main reason why the event ran so smoothly.”
