School Budget Vote and Board Election - Tuesday, May 21

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a school budget for 2024-25 that maintains all programs and services with a 0.55% tax levy increase, which is within the NYS Property Tax Cap. The proposed budget, totaling $111,660,557, would maintain current average class sizes, expand the Pre-K Program from 97 students to 165 students, continue the district’s 1:1 chromebook program and upgrade the wireless network and other technology systems.

The Columbia Cheerleading team finished Runner Up at the Section 2 Class B Championships on Saturday at Shenendehowa High School. The team finished in 2nd place out of nine teams.

“If I had to describe this season in one word, it would be motivated,” said Columbia Cheerleading Head Coach Rhiannah Johnson. “From day one, every member of this team came ready to work and to achieve. Goals were set, met and then instantly the drive for another milestone commenced. The collective talents of these cheerleaders can’t be quantified or adequately described because I honestly believe we haven’t even scratched the surface. To say I’m proud would be an understatement. I feel lucky to have been part of such an incredible journey and I look forward to the future, because from where I sit, it’s very bright.”

“The Columbia Cheerleading team met the Section 2 Cheerleading Championship with poise, courage, and passion,” said Assistant Coach Christine Kawczak. “Our journey this season has been defined by grit and unwavering commitment, especially when acquiring new skills. The steadfast support of our four seniors propelled us forward during the inevitable turbulent times. The effort these athletes have poured into every practice and every moment as a team is truly inspirational. Finishing as Runner Up in the Varsity Class B Division is a testament to our athletes’ relentless spirit, and unyielding determination. Taking second place out of nine teams in a challenging division made evident the strength of our character, the power of our teamwork, and the depth of our passion. These athletes are eager and this season is just the beginning of what promises to be an extraordinary legacy.”
