Capital Project

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a $116 million capital project that, if approved by voters, would improve facilities and grounds at all seven schools at no additional cost to the local taxpayer. The proposed capital project will be a proposition on the School Budget Vote and Board Election ballot scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

UPDATE
Sunday, March 24 – 8:00 p.m.

The East Greenbush CSD will open with a 2-hour delay on Monday, March 25 due to this weekend’s storm which has led to widespread power outages. At this time, power has been restored in all buildings except for Red Mill Elementary School.

Opening with a delay tomorrow will provide the district sufficient time to assess whether or not systems within the schools are functioning properly (heating systems, refrigeration for food services, internet, phone and emergency systems) and give additional time to see whether the power at Red Mill can be restored. It will also provide additional time for crews to clear roads that are blocked by trees and downed wires.

We are not making a decision to close at this time because we recognize many families have been without power for most of this weekend. If we can open schools safely, we can provide a place for students to go that has heat, meals and learning.

An announcement will be made tomorrow morning by 7:00 a.m. whether the district will stay with a 2-hour delay or close for the day.

Thank you for your flexibility during this situation.

ORIGINAL POST
Sunday, March 24 – 6:13 p.m.

Dear Staff and Parents/Guardians,

The East Greenbush Central School District administrators have been communicating with the towns and National Grid throughout the day today regarding the winter storm from this weekend and its impact on our school operations.

There are currently three buildings with no power including Howard L. Goff Middle School, Red Mill Elementary School and the Transportation Center. Columbia High School’s power was restored in the last 10 minutes.

We are assessing the situation and considering the potential for a school closing tomorrow. No decision has been made yet. We will continue to work with the towns and National Grid and make an announcement for tomorrow by 8:00 p.m. this evening whether we will be open, closed or opening with a delay.

Please be patient as we gather information and make that decision. The purpose of this notification is to make you aware of the current status and what we are planning for tomorrow.

We appreciate the hard work of the towns and National Grid to restore power to our schools.
