Fourth graders from across East Greenbush Central School District had the opportunity to hear older students play all of the instruments in the music program as part of the 2020 Instrumental Festival this week. The two-day concert is meant to showcase musical options for students before entering 5th grade. It is also an opportunity for orchestra and band students to perform in concert.
In addition to each of the bands and orchestras performing as groups on stage, music teachers Scott Halliday and Susan Chrzan talked about each of the instruments and had individual high school students play samples of songs for the audience, including “Old Town Road,” and themes from Star Wars and The Avengers.
“It is so great to hear students in grades 5-12 perform for one another through this two-day event,” said Mr. Halliday, who serves as chair of the Music Department and emcees this event. “It gives all students in the program perspective on where they were, where they are and where they can go as a musician. The opportunities are endless!”
