Meatloaf with vegetables and soupThe East Greenbush Central School District has been pleased to provide free breakfast and lunch meals to all students over the past two school years. During the pandemic, schools were able to offer meals at no cost to all students due to temporary flexibilities provided by the federal government. It was an unprecedented move to help families deal with the ongoing pandemic. Unfortunately, these flexibilities have expired, and schools are no longer able to provide free meals to all students in the 2022-2023 school year.

Schools must now transition back to charging for meals based on program eligibility. Households may complete a Free and Reduced Price Meal Application. Children from households that meet Federal income guidelines are eligible for free meals or reduced-price meals. Students in New York State who are approved for reduced-price meals will continue to receive breakfast and lunch meals at no charge.

Children are automatically eligible for free meals if anyone in their household receives SNAP, TANF, or FDPIR benefits. Some families with Medicaid may also qualify. You will be notified if your child is automatically eligible.

Children who do not qualify for free or reduced-price meals may pay full price for a healthy breakfast or lunch at school. Meal prices for the 2022-23 school year are below.

Breakfast Lunch
Grades K-8: $1.75 Grades K-5: $3.00
Grades 9-12: $2.25 Grades 6-12: $3.25

We are looking forward to serving healthy, nutritious meals to our students in the new school year. If you have any questions, please contact the Food Services Department at 518-207-2474.
