Even though the school year has ended, free meals will still be available to children and teens in need throughout Rensselaer County this summer. There are 11 meal sites located across Rensselaer County, which are sponsored by the Rensselaer County Department for Youth, as well as, meal sites at Donald P. Sutherland and Red Mill Elementary Schools, which are operated by the East Greenbush Central School District.
East Greenbush CSD will continue to offer Grab n Go meals for pick up or bus delivery through August 28. Families will be given that day’s lunch and the next day’s breakfast at once. Families may pickup meals at DPS or Red Mill Elementary Schools or sign up for meal delivery.
There will be no meal pickup at Donald P. Sutherland or Red Mill Elementary Schools or bus delivery on Friday, June 26 or Friday, July 3. Meals for those days will be supplied on Thursday, June 25 and Thursday, July 2.
There will be NO MEAL PICK UP at Donald P. Sutherland or Red Mill Elementary Schools on Friday, June 12 due to those schools hosting 5th Grade Moving Up Ceremony parades on those days. Families who pickup Grab n Go meals at those locations will be given an extra lunch on Thursday, June 11 to be used for Friday, June 12. Bus delivery will remain on its regular scheduled deliveries.
East Greenbush Central Schools and the East Greenbush Community Library have teamed up to provide free books to students this week.
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today that all public schools in New York State will remain closed through April 29 due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Additionally, Board of Regents Chancellor Betty Rosa announced that the Regents Examinations scheduled for June 2020 will be canceled. No decision has been made regarding the August 2020 Regents Exams.
