School Budget Vote and Board Election - May 21

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a school budget for 2024-25 that maintains all programs and services with a 0.55% tax levy increase, which is within the NYS Property Tax Cap. Residents will also vote on a $116 million capital project that would improve school facilities and grounds across the district with no impact to local taxpayers, the replacement of eight school buses, which if approved by voters, will be fully paid for by the Bus Purchase Reserve Fund, and elect three individuals to the Board of Education.

Green Meadow Principal Daniel Garab

The following letter was mailed home to Green Meadow parents on August 21, 2023.

Dear Green Meadow Students and Families,

I hope you are enjoying your summer. The new school year is just a few weeks away. Soon the hallways and classrooms will be filled with students! The start of a school year can be a very exciting time for students, staff, and families. To all of our new families, I extend a warm welcome to the Green Meadow community! It is our goal at Green Meadow to make the 2023-2024 school year a happy and successful experience for everyone.

We have a very active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) at Green Meadow Elementary School. They support our students and staff in so many meaningful ways. If you are not already actively involved, I encourage you to do so. Please click on the PTO link on the Green Meadow website to sign up for text and email alerts regarding PTO items.

Our PTO will be hosting the annual Welcome Back Ice Cream Social in the backyard of our school on Friday, September 8th beginning at 5:30 p.m. This event is a great way for families to get together after a long summer. Our PTO team will share more details as we get closer to this annual event!

Green Meadow is very pleased to welcome many new staff members joining our team this year:

  • Jennifer Mapes, 3-5 Transitions Teacher
  • Danielle Kush, Intervention Specialist
  • Roxanne Dancer, Teaching Assistant
  • Gina LoPresti, Teaching Assistant
  • Lisa Marshall, Monitor

I am also very excited to announce that Green Meadow will be hosting a Pre-K class this year! This program is in collaboration with Questar III BOCES. Please join me in welcoming our new families and staff to Green Meadow. Additional information on the EGCSD / Questar III Pre-K program can be found at  https://egcsd.org/pre-k.

Enclosed with this mailing is your child’s classroom/teacher assignment. School supply lists for each grade level and neighborhood bus routes are available on the Parent Information tab on the Green Meadow webpage of our district website.

As a friendly reminder, students entering grades 3, 4, and 5 who attended East Greenbush Schools last year, brought home their district-issued Chromebook at the end of the school year. Please make sure your child(ren)’s device is charged and sent to school with them on the first day of school. Students entering grades K-2 and students new to the district will be issued devices during the beginning weeks of school.

This year, we welcome our incoming kindergarten students and their parents for a “Kindergarten Meet and Greet” on Wednesday, September 6th. Additional details are enclosed for kindergarten parents. This will be a time to visit their classrooms, drop off supplies, and meet the teachers before the new year begins.

The first day of school for students in Grades K-5 is Thursday, September 7th, 2023. School opens to students at 9:00 a.m. and Dismissal is 3:30 p.m.

Arrival and dismissal procedures for parents driving students to and/or from school are outlined in this link: Parent Transport Procedures. Please be patient during the first few days of school as we hone our procedures. If we are not notified of a parent pick-up in advance, your child will be sent home on the bus.

I would like to extend a special welcome to our incoming Pre-K and Kindergarten students, as well as any students in grades 1-5 who will be new to our school this year. I know all of our new students will find Green Meadow to be a school that fosters a love of learning!

I am looking forward to the start of the school year with you and your child. Enjoy the final days of summer! Should you have any questions regarding the opening days of school, please feel free to contact the school.

Sincerely,

Daniel G. Garab
Principal
