Learning left the classroom and moved to the nation’s capital last week for the 8th grade class from Howard L. Goff Middle School. The three-day field trip included visits to the U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court, Holocaust Memorial Museum and many other historic sites and landmarks.

Children’s book author Alicia Klepeis visited Genet Elementary School on Wednesday to discuss books and the process she follows when writing. The former teacher has turned her love of travel and learning into a writing career with nearly 200 books to her credit.

Two Columbia High School students – Javanna Soucy ’24 and Cameron Race ’25 – had artwork accepted to the Charlton School’s Art Show earlier this month, which was hosted in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month. Ms. Soucy won an award at the show for “Best Use of Materials”!

Three former student athletes and three coaches/staff/volunteers were inducted into the Columbia High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame on May 13. The Class of 2023 includes Jamie Carr Ferrari ’00, Stephen Sayre ’02, and Brendan Morgan ’12 and from the Coach/Staff/Community Category, Bill Neumann, Bill Clum and Todd Romer. Congratulations!

Columbia High School will administer Regents Exams on June 1, June 14-16 and June 20-22. There will be no school those days except for students taking exams. (All other schools in the district will be in session.)
