The winter sports season schedule has been adjusted by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association. Only “low-risk” sports as determined by the NYS Department of Health, which includes Boys’ and Girls’ Bowling, are permitted to start on December 14. “High-risk” winter sports including Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball, Competitive Cheer, Ice Hockey and Wrestling have not been approved by the state.
Howard L. Goff Middle School is dashing through December to the holiday break! Starting Monday, December 7, students are invited to participate in spirit days such as Candy Cane Day, Elf Day and Ugly Sweater Day. Prizes and raffles will be held throughout the month.
The East Greenbush Central School District was informed by the Rensselaer County Health Department today that a Howard L. Goff Middle School student has tested positive for COVID-19. The student has not been in attendance at school since November 20. Due to the length of time that has passed since then, the county health department has advised us that there is no need for contact tracing and no one needs to quarantine due to possible exposure.
Superintendent Jeff Simons notifies families of changes to the 2020-21 school calendar and that the district will adopt remote learning for snow days. These changes are being made to ensure the district meets the number of required student attendance days during this abnormal school year.
There will be a half day for all students in grades K-5 on Wednesday, December 2 due to parent conferences.
