Any student who sustains a sports-related injury and which requires medical care, will need to provide a medical release from their physician stating that the student may return to participation in physical education classes and/or sports.
Any student who is injured at school or school-related event and seeks medical care will also be required to provide a medical release so that the student may return to full participation in physical education classes and/or sports. Even if the physician does not restrict the student from any activities, documentation from the physician will still be required stating that the student may return to all activities.
Any student who sustains a concussion participating in athletic activities as defined by commissioner’s regulations and include participation in sessions for instruction and practice skills, attitudes, and knowledge through extramural, interscholastic athletic, or extra class periods in physical education or extra class activities must be cleared by their private physician AND by the school medical director before returning to play as per the East Greenbush Central School District Concussion Policy.
