After School Activities Canceled – February 9
All after school activities are canceled for Tuesday, February 9 due to the weather forecast. GCC will be operating its after school program at all locations.

The East Greenbush Central School District hosted a Winter Sports Information Meeting for student athletes, their parents and coaches on Wednesday, February 3. The meeting was held virtually and live streamed via YouTube to discuss state guidelines for interscholastic sports and answer questions from parents.
The Rensselaer County Health Department has given approval for schools to start winter sports, following the state’s announcement from last Friday that “higher-risk” winter sports could begin starting February 1. East Greenbush Central School District is starting a preliminary registration for students.
The New York State Department of Health announced last Friday that high-risk winter sports would be authorized to start practice and competition beginning February 1 if permitted by local health authorities. Rensselaer County has indicated support for this updated guidance publicly, but the East Greenbush Central School District has not yet received official written permission from the county health department to start these sports. Additionally, Albany, Saratoga and Schenectady counties which encompass other schools from Suburban Council, have not granted permission for those school districts to start high-risk winter sports.
The Columbia High School Athletic Hall of Fame Celebration, which was scheduled for May 8, 2021, has been postponed due to the ongoing pandemic. The Athletic Department is considering a date in August of this year, potentially at an outside venue.
Columbia Athletic Director Michael Leonard and School Social Worker Audra Di Bacco would like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s Adopt-a-Family program. With your help Columbia was able to adopt 57 families and provide much needed gifts and clothing to more than 200 people in this community.
