The Columbia Girls’ Volleyball team won the Section 2 Class AA Final against Guilderland on Saturday in five sets (25-19, 26-28, 23-25, 25-12, 15-9). This is the first Sectional title for the girls’ volleyball program since 1984. Congratulations!

The Columbia Girls’ Soccer team defeated Niskayuna 1-0 on Monday evening in the Section II Class AA Final at Shaker High School to win its second consecutive sectional championship. Senior Anna Shepard scored the golden goal in overtime, launching a shot over the outstretched goalkeeper. Congratulations!

The East Greenbush Central School District is developing a new Capital Project that would improve facilities and grounds at all seven schools. The proposed project, which was presented to the Board of Education at its public meeting on Wednesday evening, includes items such as adding air conditioning throughout all five elementary schools, classroom additions for Universal Pre-K, library renovations, new playgrounds, athletic field improvements, new tennis courts at Columbia High School, a pedestrian sidewalk from Columbia to Luther Road and infrastructure improvements.

Students interested in trying out for a winter sport (Varsity, JV and Freshman) can register online through FamilyID starting Sunday, October 15. Registration for Modified 9 and Modified sports will open Sunday, October 22.
