All district schools will dismiss 15 minutes early on Thursday, November 9 for a state-mandated Emergency Go Home Drill. All students will be dismissed to the location parents have indicated on the Student Verification Form in case of an emergency closing.

Students in the Howard L. Goff Middle School MAP and Jump Start programs visited miSci Museum in Schenectady last week to explore STEM topics. They also learned about the connection between science and social studies by attending a 45-minute presentation on the Erie Canal.

School cafeterias served delicious New York State apples and homemade chili for lunch on Wednesday as part of the Big Apple Crunch. The Big Apple Crunch, sponsored by the NYS Education Department and FarmOn! Foundation, takes place every October and invites New Yorkers to take a bite out of an apple grown in New York to celebrate the apple harvest and to inspire residents to eat local.

Howard L. Goff Middle School has begun planning for the 8th grade class trip to Washington, D.C. The trip is scheduled for May 8-10, 2024 and includes tours of Capitol Hill, the Supreme Court, Library of Congress, Ford’s Theater, National Archives, Holocaust Museum, Natural History Museum, Smithsonian Museum, Arlington National Cemetery and monuments at the National Mall.

The East Greenbush Central School District is developing a new Capital Project that would improve facilities and grounds at all seven schools. The proposed project, which was presented to the Board of Education at its public meeting on Wednesday evening, includes items such as adding air conditioning throughout all five elementary schools, classroom additions for Universal Pre-K, library renovations, new playgrounds, athletic field improvements, new tennis courts at Columbia High School, a pedestrian sidewalk from Columbia to Luther Road and infrastructure improvements.
