The East Greenbush Central School District appointed Mike Neumann as the next principal of Bell Top Elementary School at the public Board of Education on Wednesday evening. Mr. Neumann has served as an assistant principal at Howard L. Goff Middle School since 2015. He will start his new position at Bell Top on July 1, succeeding Principal Martin Mahar who is retiring at the end of the school year.

Parents of children ages 5-12 are invited to attend a series of free Active Parenting Workshops on Wednesdays in April and May that will offer guidance in the areas of respectful discipline, skills for clear and honest communication, concrete strategies to prevent risky behavior and how to be an encouraging parent.

The New York State Grades 3-8 English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics Exams and the Grades 5 and 8 Science Exams will be administered this spring. These tests are required by the federal Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015.

Goff Student Council completed its 4th annual Easter Service Project this month. The students made 75 Easter baskets and filled 1,000 Easter eggs, which will be donated to SideWalk Warriors of Troy and the South End Children’s Cafe.
