Six graduating seniors from Columbia High School earned the NYS Seal of Biliteracy, becoming the first students in the East Greenbush Central School District to earn this distinction. Rachel Clarke ’24, Molly Graiff ’24, Luke Savage ’24, Ben Strodl ’24, Drea VanVranken ’24 and Caitlin Weinheimer ’24 will receive an official seal from the New York State Department of Education to be placed directly on their diplomas as well as a medallion to wear at graduation. Children’s book author Dave Lagarce visited Donald P. Sutherland Elementary School on June 4 to visit with students and read from his book “Little Luca” as part of the One School, One Book program. Mr. Lagarce was joined by his mother in law and former DPS teacher Linda Staszowski, who retired in 2022.

All of the fifth graders from the East Greenbush CSD elementary schools gathered at Schodack Island State Park in Castleton on Monday for the annual 5th Grade Mixer. It was an opportunity to meet students from other schools and get to know each other before they start 6th grade at Howard L. Goff Middle School in September.
