A district-wide lockdown was implemented on Thursday, March 30, shortly before 9:00 a.m. Following law enforcement sweeps of all buildings, and in consultation with the East Greenbush Police Department, the lockdown was lifted later in the morning.
The East Greenbush CSD presented an updated version of its preliminary school budget for 2023-24 at Wednesday evening’s Board of Education meeting in the Green Meadow gymnasium. The school budget total was decreased to $108,812,882 and the tax levy increase was cut in half from 1.0% to 0.5%. The preliminary budget maintains all current programs and services, and includes staffing additions, technology upgrades, facility improvements and funding to continue the Pre-K Program.
There will be a half day for students in grades PK-5 on Thursday, March 23 due to parent conferences.
Musicians from Columbia and Goff performed at the 2023 District-wide Instrumental Festival on Monday and Tuesday to showcase music options for 4th grade students.
Each school year, the East Greenbush CSD makes provisions for up to five emergency closings by building them into the school calendar. At this point, the district has used all five of its emergency closing days. Therefore, the district has decided to implement remote learning for any emergency closing days that occur between now and the end of the school year.
In response to the tragic earthquakes that affected Turkey and Syria last month, the East Greenbush CSD is collecting spare change at all schools to benefit the American Red Cross and its disaster relief efforts. All schools are accepting spare change from now until April 5, 2023.
